Discord seems to be eavesdropping on users

Now and then, I drop by in Discord, both for Mobius as for Iridium Wing.
But what strikes me, as it seems as a feature, not a bug, is that the application does not close when I am, in fact, closing it. I do certainly not need a hidden device eavesdropping on me, yet this is what Discord actually does: After clicking on the [x], the app including mike continues to run in the background. Only solution I could discover is starting up Task manager and force-quit it. Yes I know I can "disable" mike in the settings, yet the program still sends data, so do I trust it to really shut down anything? You bet.

Well I must say that I consider this an act of aggression on my sovereignty, and that even after considering that I have to use Windows. Inacceptable, plain and simple. Is there any other way to whack that bloody nosy program so heavily around it's dirty ears that it actually shuts down completely, as it should?

When you click the X it minimizes to the notification bar. There you can right click and really quit the program.
This is not special for Discord. Many apps behave like that.

I've yet to figure out how Discord actually plans to make money. That always makes me a bit nervous.

(Edited to remove the bit about integration... looks like they've gone online with their API since I last looked and it actually looks like a pretty nice API.)

According to their webpage they plan on selling cosmetics and skins.
Now how well that works no idea.

Skype does. When you 'X' 'close' it, it just minimises to the task bar. Right click and chose 'Close' and it stays open. Have to go to Task manager and end task. Or Uninstall it like I did.

Most of these programs has a setting in their options for minimising to tray instead of closing.

Practically every single app that uses a microphone for communication does this in its default setting.
