Looking for video editing programm

Postby Lodrik Bardic » Fri Apr 08, 2016 6:40 am

Hi guys,

I'm looking for a programm to cut my shadowplay videos.
The main problem with the programms I tried so far is my screen resolution.
Most of the programs only support the 16:9 resolution while I got a 24" 16:10 monitor so the result is a blurry video where you can't read anything anymore.
Also once I found a programm that supported the 1920:1200 resolution but then it had far to many options for saveing the video in terms of file type, codec, audio quality and so on without telling me the original proporties of the video or guiding me to a "don't change video proporties on save" option.

I just want to cut some parts out of the videos without changeing file type, codec, quality or whatever.

I intend to use the program to create videos for bug reports so I think it's clear why I want to maintain the good quality of the video when cutting the useless parts out of it.

So if anyone got a more or less simple programm for that purpose please tell me :-)

I don't know if it supports your resolution, but I've been using "movie maker" that came with Windows 10 to edit my Shadowplay clips. It does everything that I need..... trim, splice, fade in and out, and convert to YouTube optimized settings if desired.

For just cutting, I use Avidemux, which is free. You can convert resolutions, but I just record at a youtube friendly resolution at 30FPS and tell it not to change anything. I haven't tried to do anything fancier with it.
It's time to give this another go.

I use a combination of Movie Maker and Shotcut, Shotcut is free, has loads of features and a bucket load of encoding options.
