Calling all Voice Attack users!

Postby Loriath » Fri Aug 21, 2015 2:27 pm

I have been using KICS as my Voice Attack profile since it was Version 1. I love the features of KICS and promote it whenever I can. I have also purchased ASTRA from HCS Voicepacks.

ASTRA has a lot of cool features, but I found the Profiles they included with it were overly complicated. I Went back to KICS.

Now I find myself wanting more capabilities than KICS has and have decided to do my own VA Profile. With that in mind, I started drawing up a list of features that I wanted to include. What I am hoping for is feedback from others that use VA to take a look at my ideas, give me some feedback, and maybe as I get this profile running, some testing.

Here are the ideas I have. Please leave me any feedback you may have.

No request docking? That's one of the things I use VA for.
I also use it to select my wingmate's target and other macros like that.

To be clear, I don't use voice control at all (the first thing I do when I launch VA is to disable listening) but I trigger various VA macros from hotkeys or buttons.

I also use it to give me feedback on various functions. For example I have Engine 50% and Engine 75% on one of the HAT's, and this is done directly from ED's options > controls, but VA detects those buttons and just plays a sound (from KICS). Same for gear down/up, lights on/off, cargo scoop, next/prev target, next/prev subsystem, and so on.

Oh that would all be there. Standard functions that are available in game, and Docking would be under Panel Control.

Would the Confirmation tone version be of interest? A sound to confirm that an action has been taken?

So not really of use for you in the context that you use it.

No offense intended. I just don't use voice control.

Hey guys, how possible is it to program "target power plant", such that it works... I can't figure this one out since its position changes within the menu and sub menus and appears to be dependant on what you are attacking and its configuration.

Let me just say.. VA saves my ass every day... :D

Regards
Dudley.

PS.. Keep writing the logs.. :) (Excellent read!)

The problem, with that, is that there's no reference point. No beginning and no end. It' s juts a loop, and you cannot know (programmatically) where you are because the number of modules changes depending on your opponent.

For some things, like requesting docking, it's easier because the position in the menu is reset each time you exit SC. So it's possible to determine the actions required to trigger the command. But it also has limitations: it only works if you don't change tabs or anything.

If you cycle through subsystems using keys, use reverse. Power plant will usually be 6 or 7 clicks if you use reverse or previous.

Yep that's the problem with powergrid as well......

Closest I got was having it cycle to roughly where I thought it would be and doing the final adjustment manually......

Then dumped the idea all together and just do it manually now whilst kill warrant scanning....
