I believe that the Eagle is more akin to a Mosquito than an actual Eagle.
A Mosquito will buzz around and annoy the hell out of you. It makes a heck of a racket in a quiet room at night. You half heartedly swipe at it because you know its an annoyance. But if left alone long enough, it will draw blood. But if it takes too long, or quits dancing and leaves itself in plain view, you reach out and kill it will a single swat.
All three of those ships were already being harassed by the local authorities. While the attention was on the police, I slipped in close when the shields were about to collapse, and rode the power plant keeping too close for the weapons to get me. So, lesson learned is let the diversion get their attention, wait for the right moment, then jump on its back and kill it without prejudice.
When outnumbered/outgunned, Boost Boost Boost and get the hell outa Dodge!
