Conflict Zones – Best practices

Postby cyberbofh » Fri Aug 04, 2017 6:21 pm

Saberius clearly stated in his post the rules and guidelines howto behave in a conflict zone

But.. what are the best practices in a CZ?

Remember:
Conflict zones are nothing like bounty hunting, you could be a star doing bounty hunting, but without proper preparations, you will be the victim in a conflict zone.. ending up with the infamous “Rebuy Screen”

Preparations

In a conflict zone you won’t need your bounty hunting gear.
Get rid of your KWS and make sure you have enough shield strength and/or speed & firepower!

Take massacre missions if you can, because the payout in a conflict zone is.. bad!
Since v2.3: "Massacre conflict missions limited to 3 per player at a time"

Also.. very important.. DO WING UP!

Your wingmates will be your best (and sometimes only) friends you'll have in a conflict zone!
If a fighter is chasing you, slowing bringing down your shield with their god-like railguns, it’s your wingman that can help out and clear your six!

How can you find others to wing up with?
Use one of the main MOBIUS in game groups while you’re at the space station of the system at war
You’ll see lots of other MOBIUS CMDRs there!
Do say hi and don’t forget the o7

and.. feel free to ask if anyone is looking for a wing!

Another good place to find other CMDRs to wing up are the MOBIUS Teamspeak & DISCORD servers
The DISCORD server even has a text chat channel called #wingmates_wanted just for that!

When you find other CMDRs to form a wing
1) in game friend each other, because game crashes happen (something about FDEV not feeding the server hamsters) and you might end up in a different instance without your buddies

2) change from one of the main MOBIUS groups to a private group of one of the wing members. This way all the targets in the CZ are for you only AND you’ll limit the chance to see other MOBIUS CMDRs and accidental shoot them!
Everyone has it’s own private group and creating/adding people to it only takes 30 sec

3) use voice communications! Remember, text typing is slow and you’ll need to act FAST!
MOBIUS has both a TeamSpeak & DISCORD server! There are even better for in game voice communications than the one the game offers. Higher quality and they will keep working when your game crashes

Remember the nice engineers? They have something real nice for those that like to wing up and fight side by side..
DO have a look at the

Regeneration and Concordant sequence

Two weapon specials that can “regen” your wingman’s shield!
Only works as long as there is still a shield, so don’t let it drop!

PLAN B
Always make sure you’ll have a “Plan B”
Shield Cells + Heat sinks = life
Remember, shield cells will cause lots of heat, make sure you have some heat sinks too

Finding the conflict zones

Remember, you’ll need to be within 1,000 Ls to see them
Scout the system you’re in
Remember, the location of conflict zones can and will change during the war!

Still don’t see any conflict zones?
This is an old bug (+10 months old!) and still not being fixed by FDEV
Try changing groups! Sometimes smaller private group see the conflict zones while the bigger ones (like the main MOBIUS groups) don’t show them
Sometimes it’s needed to jump out the system and then change group and return

If you encounter this problem, DO create a support ticket with Frontier Support, so they know about this problem

When entering the conflict zone

Do not start shooting!
Move away from the center.. about 5..8 Km and then select the side you want to fight for
The moment you pick sides, be ready to fight!

Also.. make sure everyone in the wing picks the same side!

If you make a mistake - you’ll notice when everyone start shooting at you.. and your wing.. - then do the following:

  • jump out of the zone in supercruise
  • wait for all your wing members
  • return and the zone is back to normal

If you try to leave in supercruise but you’re mass locked while being far away enough from the planet/rings, then you can do 2 things

1) 4 pips on ENG and BOOST like hell if you’re fast enough!

or

2) select a nearby system and jump to hyperspace!
Remember.. big ships can mass lock smaller ships when they want to go to supercruise, but they can’t mass lock going to hyperspace

Once inside the conflict zone and after all the wingmates picked the same side, you can start shooting every target of the opposing side

You’ll notice that enemy ships are more aggressive and more determined to kill you.
Also.. yes, those Vipers MK III and Vultures do have “Cutter like shields” sometimes

Heads up! If you forgot to change from one of the main MOBIUS in game groups to a wingmate's private group, it's possible you'll encounter other MOBIUS CMDRs in the conflict zone!

You can recognize other CMDRs/human players in several ways

1) When scanning them, they have CMDR in front of their name
CMDR John Doe is a human, while just John Doe is a npc

2) the icon on the target indicator (it’s not a radar, but that’s a different discussion) shows CMDRs as hollow icons and npcs as solid icons

Image

If you see another CMDR(s),

1) send a message - something like “greetings CMDR! we're also here at this CZ! o7” - so they’ll know there are other CMDRs in the zone

2) invite them into your wing when you have space or ask to join them

3) change private group

Don’t shoot at other CMDRs, no matter if they're fighting for the opposing side or not

Remember Wheaton’s law!

If you shoot another CMDR by accident, just break off the attack and say sorry.. and change private group

Concluding

Lots and lots and lots of info about Best practices for Conflict Zones!

Some of you are already familiar with most of this and some are not..
There's so much to learn in this amazing game!

My personal favorite is Wheaton’s law! when you encounter other MOBIUS CMDRs

Wing up and have fun together CMDRs! o7

This is what i do.

Jump in.
Boost towards the marker.
Start an fa-off pitch so as I pass the marker I am still facing it.
Deploy slf and order it to maintain formation and hold fire.
When I'm about 5-7km from the marker come to a full stop and the flight through the cz marker has made certain all triggers and both sides have fully spawned.

Survey the situation and choose a side.
Engage closest target of opportunity.

Be prepared for when things go sideways.
And make sure the slf only engage the targets of your choosing and return to hold fire mode.
If it starts running off in either engage or defend mode I refer to things going sideways.

The slf will get shot and destroyed. Every enemy hunting it. Is one not hunting you.
Slf's are cheap as chips.

And as always it's. More fun to murder alongside with a friend.

People call me Bob.

Rule 1: Pillage. Then burn.
Rule 2: No such thing as overkill, as long as there are reloads.

Ah the fun we have had in CZs ehh, Tor's 38 second rule and my (slightly slower) mean maybe three kills apeace (pun intended) a minute against mission when the Vettes start dancing.

Nice guide, just one slight extra if I may OP.
If you are a money grabbing, murder massacring Bastard (better if I say it myself rather than be called it) bounce the boards, get two max missions 20+ then do the long wait. Keep bouncing till you get another three max MMs and hey presto 100M+ in an hour or so (depending upon the strength of your haze, smoke and Dawg breaks).

Tor and I grossed out at about 200 each last Saturday.

Made Billies at war but more importantly loads of fun. Just tell em DaddyWarbucks sent you...

Kill them....

Actually I'm just starting on my cz career.

Most, well half my cash balance came from slaves and those very lucrative poop runs.
