Very pretty, but I would have preferred that the time, money effort that's gone into this had been put into the game and FD/player interaction.

Sparkly distractions don't keep the players engaged and don't keep players.

I doubt that FD have really done anything apart from upload a bunch of pics and choose from a standard catalogue, I suspect that all the actual hosting and work is done by an external company.

I believe these types of services are available out of the box, anyone of use could have one.

Highly likely, but there's still planning, management and money involved that could, perhaps, be put to better use.

But I have to confess to being a little miffed, so possibly not quite as objective as I should be. I finally decided that I really ought to adopt the faction I've been developing for more than a year. It's been a month since I applied to register a group (still not heard if I'm judged suitable) and then that it takes 3 to 4 months for player faction administration to be completed. This suggests that there aren't sufficient resources available to support the promise of player involvement that was encouraged.

FD frequently comes up with a good ideas, but sometimes I wonder if anybody ever explores all the avenues of possible consequences of each introduction and has a plan for each possible outcome.

And I'm a long-term and enthusiastic player - the forums show how many get disillusioned due to unfulfilled expectations.

Apologies for the mini-rant.

This. I recall suggesting exactly the same thing for Möbius when the merchandise first came up and the reply was that the quality wasn't good enough with Spreadshirt.com :)

I've used them before to sort a few t-shirts for a pub crawl etc and suggested them to a local band I follow.
Very easy to set up, easy to make a quick profit but they now have to hope the quality lasts. In reality this could have been setup by an Industrial Placement student (it's the sort of tasks they would get at my work). It would have taken no effort away from development of the game.

I just ordered a mug with a few prints and some customized text.

The ED login did not work, so this is a seperate entity alright.
Receipt for aformention mug came from.. (drumroll).

Rule 2: No such thing as overkill, as long as there are reloads.
