Forum ranks are very cool, I like them.

The thing I have noticed on the official forums is that when I am being moderate and balanced in my postings no one gives me much reputation, but if I start posting something that is controversial and rather one sided then many don't like it but also many do like it and then give reputation.

that's pretty much how it works, if your post stands out then expect rep, ive made some controversial posts and got some negative rep from them but end up getting much more in positive rep.

I imagine that people see me as someone who doesn't beat about the bush when posting. but I do tend to get rep for posting my off the wall pics,

Well that can't take very long. You'll be hitting the ceiling by the end of the weekend.

t comes in bursts, I can spend ages not getting any then BOOM! one post and ill have about 50points.

I normally rep people for making sig requests or those who have repped me for something, im under the impression that I give over 15 points when repping, so just repping me a few points gets you pretty much triple in return.

True that. Don't know the exact number. But definitely quite a boost you give.
