If ED had 2 servers, PvE and PvP where either had no effect on the other, there would be no need for Solo and no need for Group play. None of this would be a problem. If only........

It's really sad that these assholes continue to get attention.

Is this an April Fools Day joke?

Oh why couldn't they have named the game Elite Galaxy, or Elite Endeavor, or such - it's more accurately Elite Dysfunction.

I'd love PVP in a WWII simulator, or Rebels vs. the Empire, but this killing anybody for no reason (other that getting a stiffy) just doesn't make any sense as game play. If there was a galactic war, navy vs. navy, then the PVP would make sense. Or reasonable gentlemen pirates that were actively discouraged from operating in higher security systems.

The problem with these PVPers is that they just see ED as a PVP combat game. They don't care about dying, and I wouldn't either if I was just playing a combat game - and that's what CQC is for. But I see ED as more of a grand adventure, and when I feel I got murdered for no reason, it's just depressing.

And this 13th Legion guy sounds just as bad. I'd thought of going into open to punish them, but that's just what they want. Screw it, I'll just try to have more realistic battles with the AI until ED does something to make open play more realistic.

Wow, that’s quite a large article! And yeah, I agree that these assholes shouldn’t get that much attention, because this is what feeds them.

Thanks for the link, Wolf!

It's a great article on a very controversial issue , very balanced. Looking forward to the Crime&Punishment tweaks. If FD actually make gameplay better by truly balancing law&order vs anarchy then I may step out into the Open on occasion.

A lot of the problems FD encounter are of their own making: all too often they don't foresee the consequences of what they initiate.

How could they be so insensitive to the inherent contradictions in a MMO in which players share an environment and the strapline that encourages those players to 'Blaze your own trail'?

i think this is hilarious:

"They're essentially segregating the community, which isn't right," he says. "We've got people coming into the game and they're like, 'I've never seen another player since I've started playing this, and I've always played in open.' And it's because those other players are playing in Mobius, because they don't want the PvP."

20k players out of half a million is segregating the community? what kind of idiots does he think we are, expecting us to swallow such bullshit
