Another change we are testing in the 1.5 beta is to how shield cell banks operate. It comes in two parts, the first is increasing the heat cost when you use a shield cell bank. This increases the risk of using these as the sudden heat build up can cause module damage, using two or more in rapid succession can even cause hull damage – so making these a defence of last resort. The second part is there is now a delay when these are powered up. These delays also apply to a range other modules. We’re looking forward to seeing the feedback on these and the other changes in the 1.5 build.

Well goodbye to taking on ANY wing in a vulture..
It also sounds like flying anything bigger than one is about to start sucking even more.

Lol they can't be serious... This is going to seriously impact some peoples incomes. Namely me. There are others that do the same stuff as I do, but it inconveniences me, so that makes it more important!!

I never even used shield cell banks on my Anaconda even when grinding a full 16 hours through a high cz.
They didn't even scratch my hull.....
They just don't seem any good to me since they have that charging time and limited supply of cells

As a "defense of last resort", I'd gladly accept some heat damage to modules and hull if they would instantly revive collapsed shields. Just boosting weakened shields hardly seems like a "defense of last resort". It seems to me like that's how they should operate anyway. Either boost a weakening shield or restore one that has collapsed, although to a lower level. And if they are a "last resort" option, then they should probably only have one-shot capability, not up to 6 or more shots. The bigger the SCB the higher the heat damage but the stronger the shield restoration. I just don't get where FD comes up with their brilliantly logical ideas (unless in involves a flashlight/torch  ).

Well, I go through at least 2 of these trying to take out Anacondas in Haz Res, in Lady Jayne (my Python). Although, I'm rethinking the strategy I'm using, their flak cannons seem to be the ones doing the most shield damage.
In CZs, I have 2 SBCs loaded and use them one at a time. Usually go through both in 1hr. Again, maybe I'm doing something wrong. Didn't use any SCBs until I started flying my Python.
In my courier, cobra and vulture, in low intensity CZs, I usually just go about murdering NPCs till my multi-cannon ammo runs out.
So this heat damage thing would really put my income at a big risk.

Have fun, fly safe.

Don't use SCBs so happy with the nerf. No need for them unless pvp

My vipers got SCB's and I do use them, I'm still "learning" and they are my Get out of jail card, granted I've not been totally out of shields on my combat ships for a long long time and I usually end up firing them by accident as they are tied to my secondary fire.. So, I could render myself cooked purely by accident

Well so this may seem a bit sad but I never decided to use them, seemed too much to think about, bind another key, use another slot, worry about activating it at the right time. I just put loads of shield boosters on my anaconda instead and it holds up well without needing SCB. But I only play PvE modes (Mobius or Solo), so perhaps SCB are not needed for PvE in the more powerful ships, at least that is what I find for most of the time, and if not I run.
