Official Frontier forum complete overhaul now 24th October

Update: The scheduled overhaul is now one day later, 24th October

Newsletter #45 announces a downtime of the official forums:

On Thursday 23rd October the forums will be undergoing a complete overhaul. This means that from 10am BST, the forums will be down for approximately 6 hours.

There will be a forum post at the beginning of next week with a full list of changes, but a couple of the highlights include:

• A fresh new design, including an optional optimised fast-loading theme.
• Content-focused and user-friendly UI.
• Added social links to share interesting posts on social media sites.

Attached is a preview of the new layout. I like it very much! Especially the symbol set they are using.

I like the new forum look... would be cool if it was built into the game so you can have a quick break and read them in the station

Edward Lewis gave some information this morning about the upcoming forum overhaul:

Hi everyone,

As mentioned in Newsletter 45, the forums will be going down from 10:00am BST on 23/10/14. It should take us around 6 hours to migrate to the new forums, so thanks for your patience during that time.

Changes to the forum include:

- New social link icons on forum threads
- In-line developer post tracking - Clicking the Frontier logo or Elite logo will jump to posts from developers on the thread list or within the thread itself
- Three new themes to use: Elite, Frontier or optimised black
- General aesthetic overhaul – full-screen, pays homage to the Elite: Dangerous UI
- Sticky and normal threads separated clearly
- In-line replies remove the need to migrate to a new page when posting
- Many smaller, passive changes that will improve the functionality and performance of the forums

- Reputation system remains, but we are looking into an improved, more accurate system

Still up at the moment but I'm finding I don't spend too much time over there nowadays.

Hey all, just an update at this point in time. We'll be pushing back the forums upgrade to Friday, the 24th of October at the same time as previously scheduled.

Some last-minute changes and tweaks need to happen before we can push the new forums out. Thanks for understanding.

Forums are down and I guess will be for a while. It will be interesting to see if there is a bit of increased traffic in here.

well their cover page recently whent down so I guessing we may see the new forum within the hour.
