What VR games do you play, other than E-D?

Postby JohnLuke » Sun Aug 07, 2016 9:12 am

So... I'm loving my new Vive and want to see what other VR games you would recommend for it?

I've been having fun in The Lab, mostly with Slingshot and Longbow. Portal VR is fun as well. "The Blue" is a great experience, but not what I'd call a 'game'. I've tried Fantastic Contraption and Job Simulator for just a few minutes each. Not overly impressed yet, but need to spend more time in them I suppose.

Trials on Tatooine is lame, IMO.

What games have you played in VR that you like/dislike?

Horseshoes hotdogs and handgrenades.
But I'm a secret gun nut.

Vanishing realms are fun. But like most more like a teaser of things to come.

And a bunch of others.
The steam return policy comes in very handy here.
I have near abused it after getting the vive and it definitely takes the risk out of testing these potentially low content titles.

For the oculus I have lucky's tale (cause it's there) and I recently picked up Adrift (God I thought we left leet speak 10 years)
Adrift is for the few who always wanted to be a tiny Asian woman, who is trapped in orbit with a very leaky space suit.
And features the dumbest escape pod system every designed cause you need to do basic techniques support and power cycle four broken mainframes just to turn it on...

The EVA zero G mechanism kind of saves it though.

I hear Tilt Brush should be a blast. Will definitely be picking it up when I splash for the Vive (still so damned expensive, so hoping for mint second hand buy... :))

Budget Cuts is easily my favourite thing so far, the demo is free and I'm really looking forward to the release. I'm a huge fan of stealth and it's really cool actually being there instead of holding a crouch button and trying to keep your character behind a box or whatever. Every week I have games night with a group of friends. For the first few weeks after I got the Vive it was at my place, and on the first night we spent hours all taking turns with Budget Cuts.

H3VR, as Tor mentioned. It's a gun sandbox that gets updated every week. Check out the weekly updates on /r/H3VR to see what it's like.

I haven't had a chance to try Raw Data yet (I'm moving house in a couple of weeks and will be able to set up a dedicated roomscale room again) but it looks great.

Space Pirate Trainer is good with a group of friends, but it's not something I'd play much alone.

Audioshield is pretty good and it's something you can just jump into for an hour or two when you want to chill out with some music. Depending on how animated you are it can be a bit of a workout too.

Bethesda is working on VR versions of Fallout 4 and DOOM, proper roomscale releases and not just headtracking with M&KB/controller. By all reports those are looking awesome, but they won't be out until next year.

Thanks for the great VR games tips, guys! :D

I'll definitely be trying some of them out later this week when I get time.

If I had a VR set, I'd give Project Cars and DCS world (flight sim) a go.

I don't have VR, but I friggin' love DCS. I haven't gotten into World(Multiplayer) but I have the A-10, Ka-50, P-51. I have a couple others but haven't had much "seat time" in them.

Both of those are on my Steam wishlist. :)

I just need to retire NOW, so that I have time for all of these games! 8-)
