They are getting sneaky now trying to push the upgrade as a recommended update. And the dialogue box is tricky as well.

It has an OK button. If you close it with the X, it is the same as pressing OK. You have to find the link in the dialogue box to change or stop the upgrade. Sneaky, yes.

Even Paul Thurrott, a windows evangelist says it is out of control.

So, to stop the BS, I suggest Never10 from Security dude extraordinaire, Steve Gibson. Small simple app that will block the Windows 10 update and if the files have already downloaded, it will clean those up as well. Does not have to be installed, just run it and you can ensure your system avoids Windows 10.

I second the motion. Never10 is a lovely bit of code which I have used to make the nagware and sneaky install go away (including the 3 gig of data that I didn't ask for in 'preparation' for me saying yes). I'm also a fan of his podcast (Security Now) and of his other program 'Spinrite' which has saved my data on a couple of occasions. Sounds like a bit of an advert, I know but GRC is really worth a look.

Uninstalling the recomended update KB3035583 did the trick for me

That will work till the next time MS puts up updates. It will keep showing up. The Never10 disables in the Registry the ability of the system to utilize the update. It is basically the same tool way that MS allows enterprise users keep it off of their machines. Problem is, in the Home versions of Windows the Group Policy editor is not available to do these things, hence the registry changes it makes.

It also cleans up the D/L the update program did if you didn't catch it in time.

I use a nice little utility called "GWX Control Panel" to keep the B*st*rd child of the Redmond devil under control..

It won't show up anymore because I've disabled it though.

Yessss, join ussss, it's ever so shiny.

Actually have used windows 10 since it launched and the only issue I have is that my X-55 stops the screen saver from working, everything else works just fine and dandy.

I really like it vary much and have found it to be the fastest and most stable Windows yet on my labtop. I've had no proplems with it at all.

I tried using it on my other Pc(nearly the same specs as my laptop).

Crashed all the time, half of my files were missing(Also files I need for school), my Mouse and Keyboard wouldn't always work.


That doesn't make a great system if you ask me(And its trying to force it on you too).


And it doesn't look as cool as my shiny Windows 8.1
