Wonderful epic (quite hard) scifi space opera.

Mission of Gravity by Hal Clement is a classic.

Kim Stanley Robinson's Mars trilogy is a great take on colonising Mars, harder scifi than Reynolds.

Then there are "Ilium" and "Olympos" by Dan Simmons - entertaining and wild story of the less hard category.

Lately I've enjoyed reading the Shoal trilogy and "Final Days" by Gary Gibson.

And then there's the mind-bending trilogy by Hannu Rajaniemi: "The Quantum Thief", "The Fractal Prince" and "The Causal Angel"

I'm on book 4 of a series by B.V. Larson. Steel World is book one. Quite enjoyable and also have been listening to them at work via Audible.com. Enjoy

Oh and absolutely anything by Philip K Dick. Seriously anything the guy was a genius and essentially got there first with any futurisms.

I'd recommend The Stars my Destiny by Alfred Bester 100%, it is essential reading. As is his The Demolished Man.

HHGTTG by Adams but dont neglect his Dirk Gently novels they are epically amusing.

I loved Asimovs Foundation series and AC Clarkes novel 2001 makes the movie make sense.

But I will miss Iam M Banks (RIP) sci fi books. Especially his 'Culture' series. They were brill.
