Yeah I'm sure that will come with future expansions, they said they want to perfect the Star Wars epic ground battles first, but you'll still get to do atmospheric flight and fighting. Here's an IGN article that talks a bit about that.

Shouldn't the Tie fighters be "flying" rotated 90 degrees so that their "wings" are like a biplane?
