Elite: Dangerous PvE - Mobius

I had a random thought. Recently I asked the TS admins if they had a rough idea how many are actually using the TS server.

How much of a pain would it be to just have that stats available on the forum? I know next to nothing about phpbb3, but if it's not much of a hassle (I can open up the query port if that's needed from a specified IP-address).

Since the TS shortcut on top of the board is the last one, I figured something like "TS (63 users online)" or something like that.

I like that idea. We're not registered with https://www.tsviewer.com are we?

it could go one of two ways, it will either encourage people to go on there as its busy or it will discourage them from joining if its quiet.

the problem with that is if you have one quiet day on there it can kill it for days afterwards.

Yup. And registering at site's like that is only increasing the exposure of the groups to and not necessarily in a good way.

Shouting out loud on the Internet that "hey there's a non protected TS server at this IP" is usually not a terribly smart thing to do.

As for general server use that would simply be a case of looking at the server log files.
But just guessing from my own regular use I would say it's probably around 100-150 individual's using it at various points of the week with a regular group of about 20.

uhm what? Who said anything about registering it somewhere?
I was checking if there was an easyish way to have the forum talk either directly, or by something run in the background (controlled by forum owner) that polls the TS for amount of users logged in. Nothing fancy, no registering on any third party site or anything like that.

My point is: There are 20k members in Mobius and less than 1% is using TS. (Granted not all are active players, myself included.)
