Re: GPU help please

I get the impression that you know what you are talking about thebs. Just as well really, 'cause you lost me with most of that post :D Oh, I don't know about that. I mean, an accountant can ramble off on the tax code ... and he can still be wrong. ;) For now I'm a happy camper with the second GTX97...

The A-Team

Congratulations to Skipp and Loriath on your promotions. 'In 3301, a bunch of Asshats were sent to an Asylum, accused of being completely bonkers when they were only a bunch of misfits, drunks and idiots trying to have some fun. These Commanders promptly escaped from The Maximum Security Loony Bin ...

Mini-ITX Anyone?

Look about for the case you want. A nice spacious one with easy access for the twice a year clean out. A better one is one that has static filters, so one just has to clean the filters every 3 months. ;) Am I the only schmuck that goes Mini-ITX? To me, I'm going to use just a single GPU, so it make...

Of OEMs and their ODMs (and why brand name usually doesn't matter)

Incidentally, does anyone know what the max capacity of that board is? GA-Z170-Gaming K3 Specifications http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=5720#sp Q: did anyone else think on seeing the boards colour scheme that it was an ASUS ROG board? its a dead ringer for my Crosshair fomula...

Re: Saitek X56

If it fails, I am getting the x52 Pro. No sense buying another x52, since they're old. I'd still prefer another HOTAS in the x52/x52 Pro line. Yeah, they are close enough. I would go the X52 Pro as well. In my case, I got the X55 for just a little less than the X52 Pro, and am very happy. To each h...

Re: Saitek X56

As I said, it's wearing out. It's not worth buying a new x52, and the x52 Pro is quite old as well. Both have issues with USB 3.0 ports. I don't use USB 3.0 ports for my X55 either. I'd just get another x52, let alone if you catch a sale, if you like it. USB 2.0 ports are easily replicated, especia...

Re: Saitek X56

The cheapest I can see the Thrustmaster one is about $80AUD, that's not too bad (you're usually looking at about $90 for a current gen console controller here for comparison). I don't buy much from Amazon generally because factoring exchange rates and shipping to Australia it's usually quicker and ...

Re: Windows update roadblock

what if i told you that after installing from a mounted image the only update listed is for windows 10? i guess that's the advantage of downloading the iso directly from microsoft, its the latest version and has all the updates :) Well, yeah! I mean, Windows 10 is the latest version, and will be th...

Re: Windows update roadblock [Solved - Yay!]

I did not know that they actually keep the images up to date with updates, and not just serve day 1 .iso file. Not any more. That stopped with NT 6+ (Vista and later). Only 1 Update. If they stopped that, most OEMs would revolt, as would their Enterprise customers. Heck, they still get that request...

Re: What are you doing (ingame) now?

I also use DC only on big ships, with the small ones I like to go in to the station full blast, and do a last second handbrake turn. Stupid but fun :) I never want to waste the space, which I'll use for something else. I've learned to dock my FDS without much issue, and plan to do the same with a P...
