I upgraded last year and as you say it is just breathtaking how good it looks, I am so glad I went 4k and not VR as I was torn between the 2 for a while.
I still notice little details now when playing, little graphical touches that you just don't see at lower resolutions.

My fleet is split between Azrael and Exioce with the smaller ships being in Azrael and the big 3 plus a long range Asp stationed in Macmillan Terminal.
