Re: Question about exploration

The discovery scanner module doesn't exist anymore. What you need to look at is how to use the FSS (Full spectrum System Scanner). You're absolutely right, I'm thinking in the past - and I've been far out on the galactic rim for the past six months using this updated system. The FSS is quite slick ...

Re: Question about exploration

It sounds as if you are relying on the default Discovery Scanner, which has a limited range. You need to upgrade to the Advanced Discovery Scanner and capture the whole system at one go.

As long as they left your truss you're good for another day.

Re: Ship won't land after recall

I've done everything I wanted to do in nothing bigger than a Python, but do use an Anaconda occasionally.

I forgot the fourth option, which you may encounter: falling off a cliff in a terminal manner - puts you back in your ship with SRV and cargo lost.

Re: Ship won't land after recall

The Orca is a big ship; it's going to be more of a challenge to land on rough terrain. You've got three options: 1 As Tor suggests and attempt the jump; 2 Spend some time searching for a suitable landing spot while improving your SRV skills and contemplating the benefits of a smaller ship; 3 The eas...

Re: Refueling the SRV?

Why oh why can I not refuel it from the ships tank? Ships and SRVs have different engines and different fuel requirements. There are three formulae for crafting SRV fuel, each permitting greater range than the one preceding: - sulphur + phosophorus - sulphur + phosophorus + arsenic + mercury - sulp...

I don't believe so. The SRV gets repaired when boarding the ship but can only be refuelled at a station or by crafting.

It's a life management thing.

Re: New player advice wanted

The planets ... appear on screen as selectable dots of light in the distance and if I approached them to the point that they are scanned they will then appear in the navigation panel BUT they did not appear on their own as you would expect after a discovery scan. I was out on the fringes of the gal...

Re: New player advice wanted

I do admit though while doing a recent exploring run a system scan for some reason sometimes didn't list the discovered bodies in the navigation tab or system map. Would anyone else know why this is would happen? A bug or a new game feature I'm missing? Many of the irksome and undocumented features...

Re: Experiencing stutter in Elite near stations and planets

The current edition of PC Pro (January 2019) has a review of anti-virus software packages. Its summary of Windows Defender: "Windows' built-in protection is both the least accurate on test and the most performance sucking."
