Re: Hmmmmm......Choices......Choices

Problem with hubs even, USB 3.0 ones is they hardly ever run at full bandwidth, at least not the ones I have tried. That's why I plug my Rift S directly into an XHCI/3.0 port on my computer, and all others into the powered 3.0 hub. ;) I do the same for my Saitek X-56, plug them into the real EHCI/2...

High refresh rate 'decoder ring' (DVI, HDMI, DP standards)

So, I'm going to answer the OP more directly, and hopefully this will be a 'nice reference' for everyone ... I needed a new monitor as well as the old machine is going to a daughter's room. The one I now have is an ASUS that does 144Hz. I couldn't justify the Gsync (at least not yet). Again, here in...

[OT] Accommodating 0g 6DoF acceleration on the human arm-hand in input (software joystick)

Edit : thinking about it, it's an insteresting subject... Would you use foot pedal type controls in zero G I feel it would be at best uncomfortable to always be pushed against your seat's harness everytime you need to turn. Twist handle give me that Apollo CSM feel which i find more realistic, even...

Re: Playing 60hz vs 144hz

For the heck of it ... I did some testing in Elite with my LG 32GK650G-B (32" 16:9 1440p @ 144Hz G-Sync -- yes, G-Sync for sub-US$400 here in the states) ( EDIT: It's back to US$549 ), instead of my 80Hz Oculus Rift S, to see if I could get any whine. Understand I have the compact, 211x125x...

Re: Minimum requirements for laptop

Well.. It all started with node size, that you seem to hold as the only valid performance per watt indicator, You keep reguritating things I never said or asserted. I don't understand how you can keep making that oversight ... again and again. which downright made me know you know nothing of the ma...

Re: Minimum requirements for laptop

Nice post but SoCs are not all a one chip only solution. Many use support chips or systems are made of several SoCs. Not every company has the means to design and make their own homebrew SoC. They absolutely do, it's called fabless. I've worked at a couple myself. It's none-too-difficult to design ...

Re: Hmmmmm......Choices......Choices

My Rift S has been solid.

My only complaint is the regular 'recalibration' of the play area, probably because I sit it on a shelf outside the play area when I'm not using it. It doesn't seem to like that.

Re: Minimum requirements for laptop

Apparently, the definition of SoC that we use in the semiconductor industry and the one you understand seem to differ yes :) Ummm, you just work in a different semi-conductor industry than I do. In fact, it sounds like a very Intel-only world, ignoring AMD, when it just comes to x86. First off, Sys...

Re: Minimum requirements for laptop

Do you know that Intel CPUs have a SoC architecture too? since Nehalem, circa 2008 Nehelem is NOT SoC! Do you understand what SoC is?! Nehelem just added a switching, system interconnect with NUMA, removing the old 'shared bus' design, which is still NOT done in hardware on Intel, and the whole rea...
