Ok, definately the derp. Figured out it was saying failed because it kept blowing up my old one.... sigh... newb mistake.

Keeps telling me prospector failed when I do that. Sitting right in front of a brand new asteroid too so I know it's got the goods. Zapped it just to make sure and it pooped ore. Got it working now after I waited a bit, not sure what the problem was. Due to being new at mining it was mostly likely ...

Went ahead and grabbed the prospector limpets for good measure, (really enjoying mining btw) and was wondering if there was a way to make my current prospector self destruct so that I can deploy a new one, or if I simply have to let it expire.

Alright so just to be sure before i head back out to the asteroid field, do I need prospector limpets to make this work?

Don't target the fragment, just let them do their stuff, if you target the fragment the limpet will only collect that one thing and then expire. Either keep the prospector targeted, or target nothing. Alright that makes more sense now, I was about to be very sad if mining was still poo. Thanks Xebe...

So Been trying to mine on my new Anaconda. I tried it way back in the day before limpets and before power play and it sucked. Now i've heard it's a viable option to get materials, but the limpets seem to expire after just picking up one item, even though they are supposed to have 900 seconds flight ...

Ah gotcha, gotcha. I more or less lived in a hazardous when i was flying my decked Fed Assault Ship, but I'm a little scared to go there until i get more used to flying this baby to bring it there just yet. Thanks for he advice though everyone, I'll be putting it to good use today.
