If you dont have Problems with other vr-games: Do you start ED out of Steam ? If so, you should maybe use the Standalone-Launcher from Frontier and disable SteamVR from autorun. If that doesnt help, a new Mobo could help, but you cant be sure. I used a very very long time a z68-board with an i5-2500...

I use exactly that button for yaw and forward/backward-Thrust.

Sorry to hear, but if its not fun anymore, its the right decision.

Maybe your condition will get better or maybe you could enjoy ED with a diffrent playstyle like beeing an explorer with voice-attack.

Am i the only one where the GeforceExperience-Overlays doesnt work in ED since the last Update for the GeforceExperience ? In other Games its works well, but in ED i cant see any Overlay (but Recording via Hotkey seems to work and after Pressing ALT-Z ED also doesnt react until i press ALT-Z again)....
