Re: Commander Yeshe McGermot reporting in

Well, took me to April 2019 but, as promised, I'm back for as long as the calm spell lasts this time. For me, using the new engineering and finally building an Exploraconda to dabble around with the new exploration mechanics are pretty much the changes to the game in over a year that I'm looking for...

Relix Typhon wrote:Is Meltdown and Spectre related to this?

Nope, it is not.
Meltdown and Spectre are due to a conceptional failure in processors and can be averted by patching the OSes.
The vulnerability in the OP is in intel chipsets and CAN'T be fixed by any automatic update procedure.

Re: Commander Yeshe McGermot reporting in

Hey fellow commanders, Just to let you all know, 2018 looks to be a very busy year for me. Since I hate playing a game I love and not have enough time to really dive in at least a few times a week, I disassembled my ED pilots seat and will be taking time off the game. I'll monitor the coming updates...

Re: Ship Integrity?

Hey there,
It's like the base integrity of your ships internal structure that makes it (a bit) more vulnerable, taking more damage faster.

Re: PC security public service announcement

afaik you don't need to use the intel drivers provided by the mobo manufacturer. These are always outdated anyway. I always used the official Intel releases directly (just like you don't use the MSI or ASUS video drivers but use Nvidia releases for example..) Sorry, but this is not correct and wron...

Re: PC security public service announcement

My system is identified as being vulnerable... So my guess it's primarily a motherboard and BIOS patch if not I'm sadly out of guesses. This has little (nothing?) to do with the BIOS. It is a patch for the Intel-Chipset _on_ the motherboard. It's provided by Intel, but the manufacturer of the mothe...

PC security public service announcement

Hello fellow commanders, In case you aren't aware, yet. Numerous security vulnerabilities have been found in Intel chipsets. A large number of hardware products is affected. This is huge, because it allows attacks from the internet as soon as you are connected. Patching Windows or similar can not se...

Re: A request from a player faction regarding Upsilon Aquarii passenger missions.

I'll be there over the weekend and, as much as I agree with Bob, I will take this into consideration and be avoiding missions from Upsilon Aquarii Services.

Re: x56 Rhino default mapping

CMDR Reo relayed the URL to me in Mobius-Teamspeak 'cause I was in exactly the same situation.
I don't know, maybe he already knew it from somewhere else, but in any way, thanks for providing this info! Really helped me out there.
